The three-legged shadow with a brave heart!
Hanson was trapped by one of our team members during a neighborhood cat rescue before a house demolition. At the time, his left foreleg was severely injured – likely from a burn – and deformed. Our veterinarian recommended amputation to prevent further pain and complications.
Hanson’s recovery was challenging. As an extremely feral cat, routine care and post-op treatment required patience, careful handling, and strategies to minimize stress. Through gentle persistence, he healed and adapted remarkably, even with only three legs.
Today, Hanson lives in our feral cat room, a safe space for cats who aren’t yet fully handleable. But he is slowly warming up – especially during late afternoons when our team works on socialization with him and the other feral cats. Each small step of trust is a victory, and Hanson’s resilience and cautious curiosity remind us that even the wildest cats can adapt with time and care.
