We are a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization. At PURRR, we are more than a cat rescue – we are a passionate team of cat lovers on a mission to create a better future for cats and their human companions. Founded in 2018, we've been tirelessly working to provide a safe haven for cats in need and to promote responsible pet ownership within our community.

Our dedicated team, along with our volunteers, bring a wealth of experience and compassion to everything we do. From adoptions, to our spay + neuter services, every aspect of our organization is driven by a deep love for cats and a commitment to their well-being.

Meet Our Founder

One Woman. One Dream. Thousands of Cats Saved.

Passionate about both feline friends and the vulnerable in our world, Tanya Lynn Heller—our Founder and Clowder Queen—has dedicated her life to championing those without a voice.

After relocating to Fort Lauderdale from Washington D.C., Tanya was struck by the overwhelming number of stray and feral cats. With limited local resources and year-round kitten season, the need was urgent. What began as a few rescues soon grew into a calling.

As word spread, so did support. What started as a personal mission soon grew into a community-driven movement. The outpouring of love and generosity from fellow cat lovers paved the way for PURRR’s official launch – an adoption and sanctuary born from compassion, commitment, and the belief that every cat deserves a chance to thrive.

Tanya dreamed of a world where every cat mattered—and then built it. Her mission has touched thousands of lives, feline and human alike.
